One More Day...

****We have one day left of political ads. For that we need to thank God on bended knee.

****What has made me saddest this election season is to see a “Catholics for Obama” sign or sticker. There is no way for that to not be an oxymoron. The bishops, 114 of them at last count, have said in no uncertain terms that a vote for Obama is a vote for abortion, one of the five non-negotiables.**

****"Abortion kills an unborn, developing human life. It is always gravely evil, and so are the evasions employed to justify it. Catholics who make excuses for it -- whether they're famous or not -- fool only themselves and abuse the fidelity of those Catholics who do sincerely seek to follow the Gospel and live their Catholic faith."
+Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. Archbishop of Denver

****It is our duty as Catholics to inform our mind of what the Church teaches, and to conform our lives to these truths. It is not permissible to think that Obama’s stance on “social issues” outweighs the fundamental right to life. Without life, we have no need for social justice.

****"To suggest -- as some Catholics do -- that Senator Obama is this year’s “real” pro-life candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, or moral confusion, or worse. To portray the 2008 Democratic Party presidential ticket as the preferred “pro-life” option is to subvert what the word “pro-life” means.

****""Abortion is a foundational issue; it is not an issue like housing policy or the price of foreign oil. It always involves the intentional killing of an innocent life, and it is always, grievously wrong."
+Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. Archbishop of Denver

****A vote for Obama, therefore, is a vote for abortion. Our duty as Catholics is to provide moral witness to the Truth. When we publicly support an evil, we also cause scandal, thereby leading or influencing others to sin. God will judge us harshly for what we do, either for or to, the weakest or most vulnerable; that includes leading the young and less informed to believe something which is a grave sin is permissible.

****I have the right and the duty to judge the actions of others. I do not have the right to condemn since that action is a product of the sinner. To condemn yourself by ignoring the teaching of the Church will be yours to answer for.

I am so tired of all the politics, and the crazy people who are voting for nobama--saying they will get more money. nobabma's campaign is now deciding how they will let all their followers down easy--when they can't meet all his false promises.

Of course we know abortion is the most important issue--but if the candidates had and equal view on abortion--how could anyone vote for a man who will not place his hand over his heart at our national anthem? He's un-American!

I'll be happy when the lies are over.

Tara - I liked it better when you told us where he did place his hands. LOL

Hi Adrienne. I feel like I should know this but since I don't I'll ask....what are the five non-negotiables? Thanks.

Kelly - I really should have listed them all. I will add them as a footnote right now.

The five issues are abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem-cell research, human cloning and homosexual “marriage” – all of which must be universally opposed by the Catholic voter.

For all those who are tired of the politics and the lies, try this:

2008. 140 small pages.

Not voting is NOT an option IMO

Some noted conservatives such as Rod Dreher have stated that they do not intend to vote. Others are voting for a third party candidate. Some choose to vote for the one they think is the lesser of evils. I think that each person needs to look into his own conscience and decide what he thinks to be best. I confess that I am so disgusted with our two party system and with current political campaigning that I don't feel that I can tell another person what to do.

exactly. I have HAD it with "cafeteria catholics" they should be intellectually honest with themselves and get the hell out of the church if they don't believe what it teaches. Go form some protestant sect, or stop pretending all together it's not the 7 commandments and 3 suggestions.
