My thoughts Exactly!!!!
It' not that I don't like whales. I love all animals and am sickened by any and all mistreatment of them.
However, we have an overabundance of symphathy for animals and little or non for our unborn children
To quote an old Randy Newman song, "It's ok to murder babies, but we really ought to save the whales, we're puttin' criminals in office 'cause it's way to crowded in the jails."
Again, it would seem a different issue was being addressed.
But Mark, I sympathize with your suggestion. The only problem is we already have criminals in office. In order to relieve the over-crowding in prisons, we would have to invent a whole lot more offices.
