Under Renovation
Last year the rooster belonging to "Those That Rip Up Road" got loose and decided that our property was way nicer than his own. In a matter of days he managed to rip to shreds our meditation garden, scattering the bark and ripping the weed guard to the point where it all has to be replaced. We took this opportunity to remove the Rosa Rugosa that centered each square because they grew so large they dominated the enclosure.
The garden measures about 40 x 30 feet and was one of the first gardens we planned. Over the next few weeks we will have it all re-designed and looking just wonderful. My dear hubby carefully constructed the wooden sidewalk and made a concrete cobblestone type walk that leads to the garden that is not shown in these photos.
The white flowering trees on each side of Mary are David Crabapples. The buds are very dark pink and as they open they turn whiter and whiter until they are pure white.

Sorry to hear about the crazy rooster tearing up your garden. The good thing is that the garden, as it appears, doesn't look half bad. With you guys' perspective and knowhow, you'll get it back to where it was before.
Even where it is now, it's very beautiful. I want to see the finished product! :-)
When you're ready to take a break, I have a rather nice-sized front yard in desperate need of attention ;)

i'm not a big fan of flowers, and and am amazed by its beauty. True beauty really does draw the eye. or some weird saying like that.
Crab apple blossom is beautiful at the best of time but I should imagine that the pure white variety is sublime.
I was thinking a bout your name for one of your trees. When we were children we had a huge tree in our garden and my parents named it 'Old William'.
Old William was rather scary in a storm, his massive branches swaying back and forth; but in the summer he was very kind, keeping the hot sun off us.
Trees and bushes and flowers are such beautiful gifts from God, don't you think?
Beautiful gardens are such a joy for the soul--God's creation, made for our enjoyment--the only part I don't like is all the work--weeding, fertilizing, killing bugs--thank goodness my husband takes on all the care of our yard--that way I get to enjoy the "fruits" of his labor. I love your husband's pathway to Mary--hmmmm....that's giving me some ideas.
This is very nice - I like the colonnade behind the Virgn. Your gardens are beautifully planned.
Terry --- guess what that "colannade" is?? I bought a oak headboard (as in bed) at auction for $10.00. It sat around for quite awhile until I had a lightbulb moment and put it behind Mary.
The wood platform is built with mill ends from a fiberglass plant and one of our precious dogs is buried there. She died of old age first so it's ok that she is buried there. It wasn't a pagan sacrifice, or anything:)
