Johnny Jump Up it is. They are so sweet. They are everywhere on our property now. They help keep weeds down in your formal beds, too. Some people don't like stuff growing in between other stuff ("stuff" is a master gardener techie term for plant), but I let things just grow where they will.
Adoro - but you guys grow gorgeous morning glories. Mine are always just pukey. I'm sure it's all that humidity. But I keep trying.
Tom - I just ordered 2 pints of Surflan - a pre-emergent weed stopper. It's like Preen except it's a liquid that you spray. It should cut down on some of the work. But yes - the trees are gorgeous.
I have FIVE weeping willows. One is so big now that I have a bench underneath and sit and read there. I named the bench Sarah Jane for Sarah Bernhardt (Father Bill calls me a drama queen) and Jane Austen.
All my life I wanted a weeping willow but no one in their right mind would plant one anywhere near a house, sidewalk, sewer, etc. When we got the five acres I was going to plant a willow. Then I realized I could have more than one, so now I five. I love each and every one. Their leaves will start opening tomorrow. Can't wait to take pictures.
I checked the closest lilac today, because green grass is decidedly trying to poke through the snow. Astonished, brave grass! So I looked at the lilac, and sure enough...there are little buds! They're tightly closed and quite tiny, but I just love watching them grow and unfurl. And suddenly, one day, everything "pops" and the whole world is green and flowery. It's awesome.

Pretty. What's the first flower? I think we call them Johnny Jump Ups.

I just love the show God gives us each year.
Adrienne, I like "stuff" to grow between plants too, as long as it's not dollar weed!
My first daffodil finally bloomed yesterday!
I know you love awards so I've made you one! My mum says that will keep you quiet for the weekend!

Love those first flowers of spring. My crocuses are just blooming and my hyacinths are peeking out of the ground.
But it isn't the same...I associate hyacinths with Easter and it didn't happen this year!
