Free Health Care

But, but - it's freeeeeeeeee...

And that, dear reader, is the real reason for the "little people" backers of government run health care.  We have millions of millions of people in this country who have been swamped with "compassion" from the liberal lefties.  They really believe health care will be "free" when the government is paying.

Earth to moonbats - nothing is free.  At the risk of not sounding "nice" - guess what?  I don't want to pay for your health care (even though I'm already toting a big portion of it already.) I'm tired of you cluttering up the emergency room because your kid has a cold while hard-working citizens wait for care.  I'm tired of paying your rent, bailing you out due to your bankruptcy, putting food on your table, and extending your unemployment benefits because you're too good lazy to take a lower paying job. I'm tired of supporting your houseful of illegitimate children while your "baby daddy" is off starting even more families.  I'm tired of you causing the majority of the crime and then screaming victim.  I sick and tired of paying more for an American made product because your union wages drive the prices up.    And I don't want to press 1 for English.  I'm tired of you all...

That being said ....

I'm still trying to figure out what "obesity screening" is and why it should be paid for. Shouldn't a properly trained doctor be able to take a look at his patient and make a judgment about the current state of the patient's weight?  Heck, I can take a stroll through Walmart and pass plenty of judgment.

And on to those employer mandates.  Keep your plan? Keep your doctor?  Check out this little survey The Blog Prof provided for us:

PelosiCare must be stopped!

Common sense solutions from the GOP

  • Number one: let families and businesses buy health insurance across state lines.
  • Number two: allow individuals, small businesses, and trade associations to pool together and acquire health insurance at lower prices, the same way large corporations and labor unions do.
  • Number three: give states the tools to create their own innovative reforms that lower health care costs.
  • Number four: end junk lawsuits that contribute to higher health care costs by increasing the number of tests and procedures that physicians sometimes order not because they think it's good medicine, but because they are afraid of being sued.
From GOP.com

These are the things that I and just about every thinking American has been saying since day one!

From Sarah Palin's Facebook page

TUNE IN TOMORROW TO HEAR A HEALTH CARE REFORM PLAN THAT WILL PROVE TO BE THE GAME CHANGER
Mark my words - tomorrow is the game changer! Tune in to hear common sense solutions that bury the false accusations that conscientious members of Congress have no solutions to meet America's health care challenges.

If you're like me, shaking your head wondering why all the miscommunication between Washington and the American people who have been saying, "Please hear what we're saying about our desire for health care reform," then tomorrow will be a refreshing time of clarity for all.

All Americans, and especially colleagues of House Republican Leader John Boehner: please listen to tomorrow's weekly GOP national address. Rep. Boehner will highlight a common sense alternative to Speaker Pelosi's 1,990-page government takeover of health care. I urge you to watch for it. For a preview, go to: http://HealthCare.GOP.gov

You'll hear solutions. You'll hear of real choices based on America's proven free-market principles. You'll know once and for all what the GOP and Independents have been saying all along about alternatives to another big government take over. After tomorrow, you'll know that accusations against the GOP and Independents for not providing solutions are false. Those claims are bogus. There are alternatives. Tune in to Rep. Boehner's address tomorrow to hear them.

I look forward to the game changer!

I came from where we are heading, I grew up in a Communist country. Unfortunately I see a lot of parallels between the then and there, and the here and now. I look at this national emergency as a manufactured crisis that provides the government with everything to do whatever they please.

There are many rumors, and they may just be rumors about something brewing in DC. This administration has worked very hard to begin a takeover of the government, and I don’t see them stopping. If they make the decision to go that route, no law, not even the Constitution will stand in their way. They are looking for power over the entire nation. read the rest

While are attention is being diverted by the constant chatter coming out of DC, including a NINETEEN HUNDRED page health care overhaul bill, the Muslims are continuing their takeover.  While the MSM is not glossing over the latest antics of the loony left,  they are largely silent on the Muslims.

What I find particularly funny is the very people that support them will be the first to get their heads chopped off.  These people are a threat and the sooner the American people drop their phony politically correct stance on "tolerance", the better off we'll be.

Doug Hoffman

I've been following the NY23 race in which it appears Doug Hoffman, running as an independent, is pulling way ahead in the polls.  Stacy McCain has been doing an exemplary job of tracking and reporting the race.  Today Rush spent quite a bit of time on what's going on and Da Techguy has been all over it, too.

I've always subscribed to what is  Rush's position that to have a third party will just split the vote and guarantee a win for the side you hate, which I guess depends on which side you are on to know which one you  hate (did that make sense?)  On the other hand Glenn Beck backs the idea of a third party.

I still haven't made up my mind but I do know the Hoffman race is important for two reasons.  One - it shows the incumbents that the American people are dead serious about not wanting anymore socialist wannabe's in elected positions.  Two - and most importantly - it shows the American people that the scum bags can be defeated.

Today many more Democrats are making uncomplimentary noises about the health care legislation.  Is it possible they have stuck a wet finger in the air to test which way the wind is blowing?

Left Coast Rebel has this to say:
[...]
What is the endgame? Is this not obvious, reader? The endgame is electing conservatives. The endgame is supporting true Obamanation detractors. The endgame is not giving a rat's tooshie about an 'R' by a candidate's name when the 'R' is more 'L' than even the 'D'. Is this so hard to understand? It is within the confines of the prism of integrity. read the whole post

Monday Winners

I'm not real fond of Monday's. It just seems like accomplishing anything on Monday is harder. I've spend a little over two three four hours scanning the news and blog posts and only a few items have caught my attention.

The rest was more re-hash of things that any thinking person already knows. Everything else fell into the category of bloggers and news agencies scrapping the bottom of the barrel in an attempt to say something - anything - that will constitute a post. Got to keep those posts rolling along, doncha know!  Well no, no you don't. I think I'll spend today doing something instead of saying something.

After scanning approximately 300 500 on-line missives, only three five caught my eye.

And today's winners for catching my attention are:

Nunly over at Bad Habit has this to say about the recent upsurge in Catholic bashing (and says it quite well!)
MY SUNDAY SERMON…OK, IT’S A RANT

While it's ok to criticize the Catholic Church and marginalize Christians of all stripes, the European Union is set to outlaw objections to Islamic practices.  But hang on for the money quote of the day:
If all goes as planned, the 27 member states of the European Union will soon have a common hate crime legislation, which will turn disapproval for Islamic practices or homosexual lifestyles into crimes.
I find it ironic that these two groups should be lumped together.  Islam supports the notion of cutting off the heads of homosexuals.  read the rest at Jihad Watch

"Hate" Crimes Bill & A Must Read!

By tacking the hate crimes bill onto a defense bill, the elites in Washington were able to get it passed.  And there is no doubt Obama will sign it. If the bill was so important and so worthy, it should have been made to stand on its own, not slipped through by means of subterfuge.

The potential for abuse in prosecuting people under such a law is staggering. Exactly how do you define when someone committed a specific act driven by hatred?  Will the police or courts take the word of  friends of the perpetrator that he used the word fag or dyke on more than one occasion?  And what about the person who is called a filthy heterosexual while being robbed and beaten? Will they receive the same considerations by the court?  I think not.  Which means that the bill is actually creating an inequality. As for me - the next time I rob a bank, I'll be sure to go to the white teller and not the black one.

A Must Read

I stole this over at Abbey-Roads, who stole it from Father Longenecker ( and had the audacity to even give it a new title.)  Thank goodness they're both white.

The Agenda...

(Retitled from Fr. Longenecker's "The Slippery Slope: How Satan spreads his lies")
.
1. Natural Law is ignored, undermined or made to look stupid by particular instances where it seems not apply.
2. Subsequently religious and civil authorities have their laws questioned because they are 'too strict' too 'black and white', 'unworkable' or 'lacking in compassion'.

3. Relativism is therefore introduced. An understanding gradually grows that 'there are no objective rule' that apply to all people at all times.

4. Individualism is the next step. 'I guess I have to decide what is right for me in my situation.'

5. Sentimentalism: People who live in a sinful situation demand that they not be judged. They deserve compassion and understanding. They are nice people really...but they have a problem. They're sick. They're wounded. Who are you to judge?

6. Dialogue is demanded. "You need to listen to us and to our stories. Then you will understand we are just like you."

7. Once sympathy is won, the goalposts are moved. Now they are not 'sick' or 'wounded' they're just 'different'. They expect to be accepted despite their 'differences'.

8. Equal rights are expected by those who are acting against God's law. "We are not asking you to approve us. We are simply asking you to tolerate a difference of opinion. Simply allow us to be who we are!"

9. Equal rights are demanded. Legislation and lobbying and protests are now in order. The pressure group for sin starts to get aggressive. They do so out of 'hurt' and 'woundedness.' Once they get their 'rights' (they claim) they will be happy and won't be so aggressive.

10. Tolerance being won, they will not stop. They now demand not only that you tolerate, but that you approve. They've moved from being 'sick' or 'wounded' or 'disabled' by their condition to tolerance, and now they proclaim their condition to be 'good'. As Thomas More was not allowed to remain silent on the King's 'great matter' but had to approve, so the presssure group insists on approval.

11. What was once tolerated now becomes mandatory. Society must integrate the new morality into every level--right down to schools and churches and scout groups. Everyone must adopt the new morality or suffer.

12. Persecution of those who resist.

13. Devil's real happy. -
This process happens on an individual level, a family level, a community level and a societal level. The bigger the level the longer it takes, and for it to take effect at the societal, community and family level it must first work on the individual level.

This means you and I must watch for the signs in our own moral life and be alert. Any of us can go down this path, and any of us may be victims of those who are already well down the path of evil and darkness.
Thank you, Fr. Longenecker

Sarah Palin Endorses Doug Hoffman
New York's 23rd District Race

From her Facebook page:
The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now.
The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it’s important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York’s 23rd Congressional district. It’s my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law.
Our nation is at a crossroads, and this is once again a “time for choosing.”
The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas.
And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.
Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty.
Political parties must stand for something.
When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of “blurring the lines” between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate who more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party’s ticket.
Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual.
You can help Doug by visiting his official website below and joining me in supporting his campaign:

Penises in Public

I saw this last night on Gateway Pundit and was so shocked I couldn't even post it without some serious thought.  Why I continue to be shocked by anything that flows out of this administration is beyond me.

I've had a few hours sleep to ponder this and have decided that my readers should be made aware of what is going on in our schools with the full support of members of our government.  Mass Resistance has a report on an "art show" at Harvard sponsored by ACT UP with the full support of Obama's "Safe Schools Czar" Kevin Jennings.  Since Mr. Jennings is the founder of The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), this is no doubt right up his alley.

Is this what our country has become? A place where this nonsense is considered art and an institution like Harvard thinks it worthy of a show?  Our government will soon be calling it a hate crime to state the obvious;  men having sex with other men is not "normal" - I don't care how many times the progressives in our country say otherwise. Yet this hate-filled, anti-Christian show is promoted at a University and no one thinks there is a problem.

Allow me to sum up the message of this show.  Dying from AIDS is the fault of George H.W. Bush,  the State of New York, Mario Cuomo, Ronald Reagan, National Institutes of Health, Stephen Joseph (NYC public health commissioner), and the Catholic Church. I'm sure there a few culprits missing from that list.

Never is it mentioned that unsafe and unsanitary sexual contact between members of the same sex promotes the spread of AIDS. In fact, there is a whole subculture of homosexual men who actively pursue partners who are HIV positive in order to become infected.  It's also not mentioned that homosexual men have sexual encounters in drastically higher numbers than heterosexuals, although I suspect at the rate we're going that statistic may change.

I have worked at several jobs that brought me into contact with large numbers (in the hundreds) of homosexual men.  A great many of them were my friends. From my observation, I can state that their life style and attitude toward sex is not  "we just want to be married and be treated like everyone else" they are trying to portray.  Even in the "committed" relationships, the weekly night out for stranger sex was routine.

My best friend during those years was in such a "committed" relationship. It worked so well for him he took a shotgun into his backyard and blew his brains out. As for the rest of my friends, a quick call to say hello is not an option. You see, they're all dead - every one of them. I watched them start to die while AIDS was still only something whispered about.  And George H.W. Bush or the Catholic Church didn't kill them.

What I found deeply disturbing was this picture showing young children partaking of this show. What kind of parent takes a child to this sort of event?

Beautiful Girl Alert

Oh, wow!  RightKlik has a really gorgeous girl posted.  Don't miss it!!!!
For Nunly:

Linky Love & Oniomania

After whizzing around my sources this morning these are the articles that stood out as to containing information the was timely, well written, and IMHO important.

American Thinker hits the jackpot with three articles.

On Health Care:  Compulsory insurance -- another Trojan Horse
On  the Copenhagen Treaty:  U.S. sovereignty and the Climate Summit
On the concept of a third party:  Divide and conquer

Big Government on Health Care: The Public Option Deception

Reason Magazine on Health Care: In Health Care - Nobody Knows Anything

Oniomaniac
n. one who shops uncontrollably, one who is addicted to shopping

I thought this was a joke when I first saw the word, or at least an overwhelming desire to eat onions.  It seems that the term "shopaholic" just isn't good enough anymore.  The word is derived from the Greek onios which means for sale and mania which means insanity.

In the United States it is recognized as impulsive-compulsive disorder and stuck in the broad category of an impulse control thingy going on.  They have their very own self-help groups and get to blame their "affliction" on low self esteem, anger, loneliness, and depression. They even blame it on the consumer driven society we live in.

Here's my problem with all of this. I'm an alcoholic.  My solution to the problem is "don't drink."  At the heart of an alcoholic's problem is spiritual malaise. So first, we don't drink and second we work on the spiritual problems such as selfishness, anger, and other transgressions against God (as we understand him.)

So my suggestion to the shopaholics out there is to not go shopping. Simple? Yep. Most things in life are...

My personal opinion?  Great move, Sarah! And also a great move for New Age aficionado, Oprah.  Why keep preaching to the choir?  The rest of us extremist, right-wing, terrorist, bitter clingers would do well to follow Sarah's example.

Update:  Here's another thought. Oprah always gives her audience a copy of a book her guest has just written.  Now we know it's not Oprah giving the book away, but the publisher.  So, for instance, what if Sarah shows up with a gazillion cases of books to give the audience. Oprah would be forced to hand out the books because if she didn't it would be front page news the next day.  Just imagine Oprah, the Obama lady  person-in-waiting, having to hand out Sarah's book.  Makes the heart sing, doesn't it??

H/T Wisdom of Solomon

2010 - A Line in the Sand

My Google Reader is over 1000 again. One thing I've noticed over the past few weeks is the barrage of posting on what most of us would consider a "slow news week."  Not that there still isn't plenty of news, but a lot of it consists of information that seems to be non-essential to our well-being.

During such a week, many of my fellow bloggers (I include myself) check their statcounters and go into a tailspin. They then feel the need to post even more stuff that doesn't necessarily promote the general welfare, unless you consider hours spent sifting through the weeds to get to the wheat as time well spent. I don't anymore.

I expect that from news aggregator sites such as Instapundit or even Hot Air.  For the average everyday blogger, however, it has gotten harder and harder to cull the important stuff.  We seem to have developed a mass-hysteria of posting for posting sake.  Soon, I envision readers becoming so overwhelmed they'll just tune out completely.

It really is no different than the Cloward-Piven Strategy.  One of it's main goals is to overwhelm the opponent.  I think we are doing this to ourselves in many ways. This sort of mass posting  leaves the average reader no time for digesting what they have read, or for just spending time on reflection.

One of my goals has been to find the things I believe are important, and either elaborate on the subject or direct my readers to reputable sources for further reading.  My main concern has been focused on health care. I believe socialized medicine is the main path through which the "powers that be" will  gain control of the economy and ultimately of us.  The next most dangerous movement, almost equal to health care, is the environmental movement.  I have posted before on Agenda 21.  One of the outcomes of this movement is the upcoming Copenhagen Treaty, which I believe Obama plans to sign in December. Over the next few days, I will be reading the entire treaty in order to speak with a semblance of intelligence on the subject.

The Green Room at Hot Air

Hot Air has a "back room" called the Green Room.  Many of my favorite bloggers, like Stacy McCain, are regular contributors.  While the "front page" of Hot Air covers many important issues, it also contain lots of fluff. While perusing the Green Room a few days ago, I came across an article written by Ken Pritchett of Red Dot in a Red State's Blog,  entitled "2010 A Line in the Sand."

Ken states in this fine article:

Not Evil Just Wrong

Today is the premiere showing of "Not Evil Just Wrong" in many cities across the nation. The director, Phelim McAleer, was the gentleman who had his microphone cut off when he asked Al Gore to answer some questions about Global warming.

For those of you not having access, Andrew Breitbart's Big Hollywood is streaming it free.

There is a trailer to view and other information at the Not Evil Just Wrong website. What I can't help you with is where (other than Big Hollywood), you could see this documentary.

However, I'm surprised, considering the background of the people involoved,  that the coordination of this premiere day was done so poorly.

If we had not received an email from our local Tea Party folks, we would have had no idea of where to see this film.  Premiere locations are almost impossible to find.  For the few premieres that are listed, the time is usually not posted.

Not fully trusting the picture quality of live streaming on my computer, we'll be headed to our local premiere in Coeur d' Alene.

Citizen Assisted Suicide...

So we have a guy in Minnesota accused of encouraging people to commit suicide. What exactly is the difference between what this guy did and what the government is doing in states like Oregon and Washington?  Want to kill yourself in these states and the doctor will help.

Oh yeah, did I mention he's a nurse?

And lets not forget the women in Oregon who was refused cancer treatment by the state run medical plan and offered doctor assisted suicide instead.

MINNEAPOLIS – A nurse who authorities say got his kicks by visiting Internet suicide chat rooms and encouraging depressed people to kill themselves is under investigation in at least two deaths and could face criminal charges that could test the limits of the First Amendment. read the rest

Obama sighted at White House, Oooops! Mistake!

Obama is in Texas? Holy carp! I thought he was in Louisiana. Oh nope - he was in San Francisco.  What the heck is wrong with that man? Can't he just stay in the White House?

Obama stated once that he thought riding around in  Air Force One was really "cool."  I've got a great idea.  Why don't you just visit the plane every day? Slip into your natty Air Force One jacket.  Maybe have the WH kitchen pack some arugula and fine wine.  You can sit on the tarmac, make zoom, zoom noises and pretend you are wasting tens of millions of dollars and polluting the atmosphere you claim to be so worried about.  Maybe the pilot will even let you sit in the cockpit. How cool would that be?

Rule Five Friday

I'm really sick and tired of the likes of Stacy McCain and all his testosterone fueled friends posting all the girlie pictures.  So here you go girls....

This post is for us...

Back to H.R. 3200

I suspected this is exactly what the Dems would do. I have not had time to verify this information but it makes sense so I suspect it's true. These people will stop at nothing to get what they want.

BREAKING: Dems Go Nuclear on Obamacare
House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) held a hearing this morning to certify that H.R. 3200 -- the main House Obamacare bill which was the subject of all the town hall rage in August -- has met all requirements to pass as a “budget reconciliation” measure. read the rest

This should send some chills up your spine:
In what seemed a reference to Republicans opposed to Democratic healthcare proposals, Obama accused them of "trying to stand in the way of progress."

"Let me tell you: I'm just getting started," Obama said.  Obama in New Orleans, Oct. 15, 2009

Mao Tse-Tung Killed 70 MILLION people

I am close to losing my capacity to be surprised or shocked by anything this administration throws out (or is that throws up?)  We have a video of Robert Riech telling old people to die and Anita Dunn hailing Mao Tse-Tung as one of her heroes.  Oh yeah, she really likes Mother Teresa, too. How weird is that?

Leather and Lace

Whooooeeeeee!
Look what Father Longenecker got:

 Wild Man of the cloth...

"Yes, the rumors are true, your faithful blogger, like a latter day Don Quixote has done the foolish thing and bought a motorcycle. In fact, I call her Rocinante, and she is pictured here. Far from the tired old nag the real Don rode, she is a rather beautiful and powerful beast." read the rest and find out his plans

There's No Justice in Social Justice

Some questions were raised by Rhonda over at Chew Life with Your Mouth Closed,
about Catholic Social teaching. Not having the time to delve a bit deeper into the subject, I passed the baton to Mark in Spokane, who picked it up and ran with it.  Concise and clear his post Catholic social teaching and Hayek's demolition of the idea of social justice  is spot on.

I'm just reading Hayek's Road to Serfdom now and am wondering why I missed out on this fabulous thinker and writer.  Stacy McCain claims to be a Hayekian scholar, but he's also a raaaaacist and a cross-dresser (a little known fact that I made up), so we'll have to investigate that a bit. IYKWIMAITYD

I also want all of you to know that Stacy, with whom I have been sleeping, respects me in the morning. He even stays for breakfast.  And they said it wouldn't last!

(Stay tuned to Adrienne dePitera to find out what's up with the squash and Corn Thins)

More on what happens when "social justice" runs amok:

National Review Online: The Obama Fiasco - Failure all around.
"The whole Obama era to date has been wasted in a historic, amateurish botch of the health-care issue. This began as a crusade for social justice — to cover the uninsured, whose numbers were suitably exaggerated, as most of them are people changing jobs from one health-insuring employer to another, or foreigners resident in this country, legally or otherwise, or the indigent, who are eligible for Medicaid." read the rest

RightKlik complained(?) because I was linking to him all the time. Not wanting to hurt our friendship, I did my best to refrain from even uttering his name. The problem is he keeps posting such good stuff.  I particularly like this post because we all need some good news, and he has done just that.  Thanks RK!

RightKlik:  Fighting ObamaCare: The Good News

Cathy of Alex, the Recovering Dissident Catholic, has a thought provoking post on "progressivist, dissenting, Catholics in Name Only", which applies to all who dissent from the teachings of God.   Most of you know I struggle with some of the priest and bishops bashing that goes on.  (not that Cathy is doing any bashing in this post.)

At some point, though, we have to ask ourselves at what point do we say "enough", and what the proper course of action should be? When I queried my pastor on that question his answer was, "when you've had enough." Well, I had enough a long time ago and have been mostly silent on the subject, except in comments I leave at other blogs.

Maybe some of my cleric readers would see fit to do some posts on this subject.

We are not powerless - yet...

All this arguing in Washington DC about "what is best for us" (how dare them think they know what's best), and not one Democrat has ever suggested what I have been saying since day one. There is nothing complicated about "reforming" our health delivery system.

They have purposely sidestepped the issue of tort reform, and instead of removing the onerous government mandates, including being able to buy insurance across state lines, they have 1300 pages of new mandates. Anyone with a scratch pad and a #2 pencil could take a giant step towards fixing what is wrong with the system in about 5 minutes.

Just wait till the people find out their taxes will go up, costs of goods will increase, and they won't have zip to show for it until 2013.  And then they won't be able to find a doctor... Good work suckers!!

Crunch Time for Health Care: Now It’s Up to Us
[...]
"All we have to do is allow insurance companies to compete nationally instead of state-by-state and eliminate all mandates that limit consumer choice. It has been estimated that these simple reforms — which are not part of any of the Democrats’ “reform” bills, for obvious reasons — would reduce health care costs by one-quarter to one-third. Instead of such common-sense reforms, the Dems are proposing Rube Goldberg measures that will make health care more expensive. Instead of eliminating mandates, their measures, including the Baucus bill, increase them — in effect making cheaper health insurance illegal." read the rest

Cell Phones for All

I thought this was a joke when I read it on American Thinker.  I would be wrong. The government (that would you and me), is currently offering free cell phones including 68 free minutes per month through a program called SafeLink:

From the SafeLink website:
We are currently offering service in parts of Alabama, Connecticut, DC, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin with plans to begin offering service soon in the States listed below.
 and coming soon to:
Arizona. Missouri, Puerto Rico, Texas, Kentucky, and Washington
Exactly where is the money coming from for this??  Oh yeah, right. You and me!

American Thinker:  Individual Freedom vs. the Right to a Cell Phone

We have found the weird, and it is us...

This is all so weird...

"My expectation is when you look back on these years, you will see a time when we put a stop to discrimination against gays and lesbians, whether in the office or on the battlefield. You’ll see a time in which we as a nation finally recognize relationships between two men and two women as just as real and admirable as relationships between a man and a woman," he said as applause thundered to a crescendo. From Obama's speech to the  Human Rights Campaign's annual dinner.

No surprise what these donors want...

Hate Crimes

Aren't all crimes essentially "hate" crimes??

While we were all consumed by the Nobel "Peace" prize being awarded to a man who has done absolutely nothing, I noticed the hate crime bill heading down the pike.  One of the things I love is when someone else posts something really intelligent on something that has caught my interest. Saves me tons of time.  Blogging is not just about stoking our own egos, but the sharing of information.

Terry, over at Abbey-Roads spotted this aberration happening and posted "The Hate Crimes Bill...Sneaking it's way through Congress." Thanks, Terry!

Glenn Beck Crazy??

Do not tell me this man is a whack job, over emotional, a fear monger, or just plain crazy.  The only reason Glenn Beck is derided by the left and many on the right is because he dares to speak the truth. And to do this from a point of faith is the ultimate transgression in today's world.

One of the issues Glenn addresses in this video is the problem of illegal immigrants. On one of his shows last week, he was talking about the infiltration of our churches by the concept of social justice.  Oh boy, you hear that lots in Catholic circles. Glenn made it clear it wasn't just a "Catholic" issue, but one that was infecting all the churches.

Trust me on this; the term "social justice" is code for socialism. Pure and simple.  Let's take a quick look at the Diocese of Idaho.  Idaho's illegal population is growing by leaps and bounds.  And what does the diocese think is a good way to help these folks? First they turn their back on the truth of the situation.  They refuse to acknowledge the fact that illegals have broken the law just by being here.  Is the law fair? That's not the issue. Until the immigration laws are changed, these people are law breakers.

Second, instead of providing a way for these people, either legal or illegal, to enter into full economic participation in society, they support and promote a system that relegates such people to a form of slavery.  Instead of helping them assimilate into society via classes to teach them English, without which an immigrant cannot get a better job, they provide them with whole sections of the diocesan newspaper printed in Spanish.  Don't like the Mass in English? Not to worry. We'll move heaven and earth to provide a Spanish Mass for you.  We will ghettoize you and separate you from the very things that could better your life.

What about the early immigrants, who upon coming to this country, started their own churches in their mother tongue?  The key here is these people worked hard to build their own churches. They were not provided a church - they earned a church and a community.  However, they raised their children to be Americans, and were proud and grateful to be a part of this country.  They retained their ethnicity while still working to become members of this great new country that welcomed them.

Several years ago, our bishop, Michael Driscoll, sent a letter out for a fund raiser of sorts, to make a plea for money, because "after all, these are the people who picked our lettuce and cleaned our homes."  The implication was clear, and my shock was profound that a bishop of the church would make such an insensitive statement.

It's time the church showed real compassion for these people. They could start by informing them that breaking the law, whether you like it or not, is a sin. And those who are here legally should be receiving classes in English and encouraged to become a part of this great country. How about fund raisers for job training or school? Or citizenship classes? What a concept!!

Health Care Update

My Google Reader has been over 1000 for two days now, even though I've plowed through at least 500 items.  Soon, very soon, I'm going to have to hit the delete button or my computer may explode.

I've been working on my Ten Tasks in Ten Days, and shared my meatball recipe (with pics, no less), on Adrienne dePitera.  Just finished staining the back deck and am headed out to wash the front deck. Then to the bank and other errands.

Meantime, thanks to the hard work of other bloggers (God bless 'em!), who obviously don't make meatballs or stain decks, is some important information.

The Hot Air Roundup of really, really important information is:

The following several articles are outrageous!  The msm hasn't reported on this, now has it???

and
An end run around the filibuster for public option?
and

If you've got about two weeks, here is a complete list of Wall Street Journal articles and commentaries on ObamaCare, "The WSJ Guide to ObamaCare - A comprehensive collection of our editorials and op-eds."   This list will give you a chance to scan the titles and get up to speed on particulars of ObamaCare that slipped by while you were having a life.   I found this compliments of Doug Ross at Journal, who does a wonderful linky love thing every day called Larwyn's Links. Sometimes he even links to me, but don't let that taint your opinion of him.
