1956 Ford Thunderbird

Some days I miss my old car.  Mine had a darker green custom gold fleck paint job. It was my first car (and no, I didn't buy it new - I'm not that old). I paid $1,100.00 for it, drove it for 10 years, sold it for $14,000.00, and purchased my first house. Turned out to be a pretty good investment.

This one is the exact color of my step-dads 1955 Thunderbird. And yes, he did buy his new...

  1. My dream car when I was young! I hated it when they made the Thunderbirds so big and ugly, and was delighted to see the pretty little ones again. Some guy in our neighborhood drives a robin's egg blue one--I want it!

  3. Kalona - The '56 was absolutely the prettiest of all the years. The 55's back end was shorter and only looked good when the top was off. And in '57 they put the fins on. Not good!

  4. MM - that was more tank than car. Gas mileage wasn't all that bad but then that was a time when you could put $2.00 in your tank and drive for a week.
