Obama's Website

Organizing for America

Even the name of this strange group is ominous. They're planning a "phone-a-thon" on Sept. 11 to inform their representatives and senators that 75% of the people in this country think having the government make their health care decisions is a good thing. Seems to me all the polling data I've seen says just the opposite.

I really like this excerpt:

[...]
All 50 States are coordinating in this – as we fight back against our own Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists who are subverting the American Democratic Process, whipped to a frenzy by their Fox Propaganda Network ceaselessly re-seizing power for their treacherous leaders.

Now let me get this straight. The president of the United States forms a group that refers to over half of the population of this country as "right-wing domestic terrorists." Did I get that right?

Gateway Pundit reports on a previous post on Organizing for America entitled ""Critics of Obamacare are Heirs of Bin Laden."

If I'm not mistaken. we have another week before the chickens come home to roost in Washington. I suggest we all get ready for some ugly times ahead.

Sunday Rest & Sunday Silence

On my other blog I talk about Sunday Secret Places. These are special places where we go to experience silence and listen for the voice of God.

I fear these next two weeks are going to be tumultuous times for the future of our country. We, as a nation and as individuals, will not be able to respond appropriately without the help of Our Creator, and a day of rest.

I think it would be helpful to remember
Our Lord's commandment to "keep holy
the Sabbath (or Lord's Day, if you prefer.") This is not something that we bloggers are very good at doing. And you can certainly put moi on the top of the list of Sunday saboteurs.

I have been busy since 6am perusing my Google Reader, with only time out for Mass and breakfast. I've viewed and read things that have run my blood pressure up and given me a headache. I don't think this was what God meant by "keeping the Lord's Day holy."

I'm heading to the library, my Bible, and another cup of French press coffee. I think that may be closer to the commandment.

Rep. Diane Watson - Just Another Racist

I wasn't planning on posting today because it is Sunday, but after reading Stacy McCain's most recent post, I felt it my "spiritual duty" to share with you what he wrote.

Stacy started his post with a quote from Ronald Reagan quoting Whittaker Chambers. If you have not read Cold Friday by Mr. Chambers, I urge you to do so. Excellent!

"Whittaker Chambers . . . wrote that the crisis of the Western world exists to the degree in which the West is indifferent to God, the degree to which it collaborates in communism's attempt to make man stand alone without God. And then he said, for Marxism-Leninism is actually the second-oldest faith, first proclaimed in the Garden of Eden with the words of temptation, 'Ye shall be as gods.' The Western world can answer this challenge, he wrote, 'but only provided that its faith in God and the freedom He enjoins is as great as communism's faith in Man.' "
-- Ronald Reagan, March 8, 1983

Read the rest of Stacy's fine post proving that he is not just another comma machine, but a deep thinker as well.

Linky Love

By Friday I am always so worn out by the constant barrage of news that I feel like I've been smacked by a wayward fish at Pike Place Market.

So how about some linky love? Sounds good to me...

On Kennedy:

Acts of Apostasy: Into the Hands of God Well said, LarryD

Abbey Roads: The Friday Breviarium Equally well said, Terry

Gramma's Right Again: My Mama Always Said Short and to the point!

The Other McCain: If it was ok for Kennedy to joke about killing MaryJo Kopechne slightly different take on the subject but equally valid (and really very funny in a gruesome sort of way)

On Just about Everything:

Agnes over at Mulieris Dignitatem had been staying up 24/7 posting, posting, posting. And this fine lady claims she doesn't even drink coffee. I'm impressed!

From Glenn Beck:

Do you want this poster on the walls in your child's classroom? A listener sent in the following...

"My Husband and I are avid fans of the Glenn Beck show. Glenn said to send in anything strange we are seeing...so here is my strange sighting. This poster is in the very front of my son's 2nd grade classroom...along with the latest book about Obama's new dog...."

Thanks to Shelley for sending this in.

My thoughts?

Besides the poster being vomit inducing, I think Shelley needs to be heading to the principal's office and may want to re-consider the benefits of homeschooling.

On ObamaCare:

American Thinker has several wonderful must-reads:

Obama's Road to Healthcare Serfdom

Barack Obama doesn't care what you think

I have been dreading the next few weeks for the very reasons pointed out in the second article. Every since seeing some of the town hall footage posted on Gateway Pundit, I also dread something a bit more violent happening. The last time I saw fury like this was during the Vietnam War. This is what 7 months of Obama as president has brought to this country. There's been plenty of change and very little hope.

America Magazine and Patrick Madrid

This is not just a Catholic issue:

It isn't often that I read things that make my blood boil to the point it threatenes to roast my brain. Yesterday on Patrick Madrid's blog he posted a reply he sent to the National Catholic Reporter about an op-ed piece written by a certain Sister Maureen Fiedler, in which she extolled the virtues of Edward Kennedy and claimed "he made her proud to be Catholic."

Patrick wrote a well thought out response, and in no way personally denigrated Kennedy or Sister Fiedler. A person by the name of Michael Sean Winters wrote a response to Patrick in America Magazine's group blog area, a publication of the Jesuits.

To quote Patrick:

"In just six irate paragraphs, he manages to brand me me a "boor," a "loudmouth," "ignorant of history," "callous," "inhumane," "indecent," and "hateful" — all the while insinuating that my comments on this issue (and those of other pro-life people) are simply a "rant."

I'm not sure exactly when the majority of the Jesuits decided they didn't want to be the "Pope's men" anymore. America magazine is an almost completely dissident, un-Catholic publication. It oozes with condescension toward authentic Catholic teachings and those that try to adhere to it. And the National Catholic Reporter is, as my pastor says, not fit to be used for bird cage liner.

Brian McLaren

And while I'm still heated up, let's chat about Brian McLaren. This leader in the emergent church movement, is celebrating Ramadan this month along with his Muslim "brothers and sisters." I've got news for you Brian - Muslim's would rather cut off your head than celebrate Ramadan with you.

Many of the main stream Protestants object to McLaren because they fear he is "too Catholic", due to his fascination with centering prayer, Tai Chi, radical environmentalism, multi-culturalism, and social justice (which is code for Marxism.) Let me be very clear (as The One is so fond of saying), none of these things are authentically Catholic, and should be avoided by any person who wants to call themselves Catholic or Christian.

And how about them Evangelical Lutherans? By cracky - they're so with it, doncha know!

Now the Evangelical Lutheran churches in America can have Pastor Bob and Bruce comfortably and lovingly holding hands due to their "committed relationship", while they lead their flock in prayer and teach the Word of God.

Marxists, Fascists, and other assorted enemies...

What is going on in our churches is just one more way for people like Barack Obama to obtain their ends. It is encouraged and welcomed. Destroy the faith of millions and replace it with a brand new faith. Replace faith in God and Our Savior, Jesus Christ, with a faith centered on the state. This is what they want and they're doing a great job.

The elitist, educated beyond their intelligence types, who run execrable rags such as America and the National Catholic Reporter, the denominations that normalize un-natural sexual practices, and all the New Age aficionado's, are being played like a violin. Unfortunately, the violin has broken strings.

Natural Law & Turning Our Back on God

First Principle
5000 Year Leap

The Only Reliable Basis for Sound Government and Just Human Relations is Natural Law

"A fundamental presupposition of Natural Law, is that man's reasoning power is a special dispensation of the Creator and is closely akin to the rational or reasoning power of the Creator himself. In other words, man shares with his Creator this quality of utilizing a rational approach to solving problems, and the reasoning of the mind will generally lead to common-sense conclusions based on what Jefferson called "the laws of Nature and of Nature's God." 5000 Year Leap, p39

What you are witnessing in this battle over government takeover of health care (a fundamentally flawed proposition), is the concept of Natural Law asserting itself. Many of the people fighting against the takeover use words such as Socialist or Marxist, when in reality they are "utilizing a rational approach" which leads to "common-sense conclusions." To be sure, the outcome will be Socialistic in nature, but the heart of this controversy is Natural Law, whether we know it or not.

Our Creator separated us from the lower forms of life on this earth by imbuing us with a mind capable of reason. He created us in His image in all ways except His perfection. We are all born with the seeds of Natural Law planted in our psyche, and our societal structure is to make those seeds prosper and bloom.

When we try to conduct our lives outside of Natural Law, or devise legislation that is clearly against Natural Law, such as Roe v Wade, or laws that clearly impinge on the ability of citizens to seek happiness and fulfillment, the society will be doomed to failure. Every civilization that has tried to circumvent Natural Law is now buried in the rubble of history. And to think that America, indeed most of the world, will escape this inevitability is not rational.

More Glenn Beck

I find it curious that so many of the heavy hitter blogs are suddenly linking to Mr. Beck, when in the past they have not only carefully avoided him, but often engaged in some outright sneering. Loon, wacko, over-the-top, and overly emotional are just a few of things I recall hearing.

Just as the MSM avoids anything that is the least bit uncomfortable to report until the bloggers and other news sources force them into doing so, so even the right wing wants to distance itself from controversial information until someone like Glenn forces them to take a look.

Is Glenn emotional? Sure, and so what. I think what we have going on in this country is emotional and downright scary. Is he over-the-top? Maybe. Depends on who you ask. Is he a loon or a wacko? Nope.

U.S. Debt Clock

and watch those numbers roll in real time.

It's a real wake-up call

From the Examiner.com in Spokane:

Have you wondered just how much national debt America is incurring each day? Maybe you’d like to check the U.S. National debt clock to determine where that debt is coming from. The national debt clock began in 1989 by a New York real estate developer named Seymour Durst. The clock is a large sized display, approximately the same size as a billboard that is affixed on Sixth Avenue in Manhattan. The clock is a seven segment indicator or seven segment display that is used to show decimal numbers. It is similar to the reading of numbers on a digital clock. Not only does the national debt clock show how much debt the nation is incurring, but lets Americans realize how much their family contributes to it.

The original debt clock’s founder, Seymour Durst, passed away in 1995. After his passing, his son, Douglas Durst, became president of the Durst Organization. The Durst Organization owns and maintains the clock to this day. The clock has undergone several upgrades over the years. The first clock was established, but when the national debt began improving, approximately 11 years after it was erected, the clock began operating backwards. Feeling that this was not drawing attention to the rising problem of debt, but rather giving messages that the economy was stable, the clock was unplugged and covered for several years. In July of 2002, the clock was uncovered and once again revealed. The debt, beginning at 6.1 trillion dollars, continued to rise.

By 2004, the clock was replaced with another model; only this one was installed at the Durst Building, where it resides today. When debt rose to a staggering $10 trillion dollars on September 30, 2008, the new clock ran out of digits. There are plans underway to update the national debt clock with two additional digits to ensure that it can handle the rising debt. To view the U.S. debt clock, without traveling to Manhattan, just click the link: U.S. Debt Clock Online.

Kim & Kourntney Kardashian - Hot Mess

I have to agree with Belinda from Belinda's Brain on A twisted tale of a mothers love . Or .... A hot mess is still a mess when she says, "Okay , so I live in a bubble and I just stepped out into the real world and although I normally don't write about gossipy stories this one it has caught my eye." read the rest

But what really caught my attention was the comment Belinda added to her story when she learned that Miss Kourtney Kardashian (Kim's sister) had decided not to have an abortion.

"At some point someone in that family will give birth to a child who will be a genetic fluke. (there's one in every family). Someone with integrity and a feeling of self worth. Someone who doesn't think or act like the rest of the family. Someone with backbone who stands up and does the right thing and who perhaps will have to face down his or her spouse, parents , or grandparents and draw a line in the sand."

"Someone who thinks that the rest of the family has the moral integrity of a kumquat. Someone who won't push their daughter into doing a topless photo shoot and feels that pimping out your daughters or your aunts is a sin and lacks good judgement and is demeaning. Someone who understands that sexualizing your beloved daughters (and some are really young !!) is a sin and on many levels."

"Someone who's searching for something that is longer lasting than fame. Someone who actually picks up his or her cross instead of using it for a pole dance. I pray that it will be this child. Chastising hurts the worst when it comes from the inner circle. The saint that comes to this family and shows them an opportunity for redemption is gonna catch hell."

Well said, Belinda. Thanks!

Glenn Beck and the Apollo Alliance

RBO has taken the time to beautifully outline what Glenn Beck has been talking about on his program concerning the Apollo Alliance. It's in style right now to bash Glenn. The real reason Glenn is in the cross-hairs is because he dares to mention God. We all know God has no place in intelligent conversation. /sarc

Glenn will be talking more about the Apollo Alliance on his show today and I will be listening.

Penis Gate

This is cutting a bit close to home for roughly half the population. If the CDC is so worried about HIV/AIDS, perhaps they should suggest keeping our zippers up and our skirts down. Sounds like a simple and workable solution to me.

From Fox News:

Report: CDC Considers Promoting 'Universal Circumcision'

In an effort to reduce the spread of HIV, public health officials are considering the promotion of “universal circumcision” for all baby boys born in the United States.

The move comes after officials analyzed the results of several studies that show in African countries hit hard by HIV, men who were circumcised reduced their infection risk by half, the New York Times reported. However, those studies focused on heterosexual men who are at risk of getting HIV from infected female partners. The main issue in the U.S. is men who have sex with men.

In 2008, the CDC estimated that more than 56,000 people were newly infected with HIV in 2006 (the most recent year that data are available). Over half of those new infections occurred in gay and bisexual men.

Click here for more facts on circumcision from the CDC.

Meanwhile, critics of the recommendation said it subjects newborn boys to “medically unnecessary” surgery without their consent.

But Dr. Peter Kilmarx, chief of epidemiology for the division of HIV/AIDS prevention at the CDC, told the Times that any step that could stop the spread of HIV must be given “serious consideration.”

“We have a significant HIV epidemic in this country, and we really need to look carefully at any potential intervention that could be another tool in the toolbox we use to address the epidemic,” Kilmarx told the newspaper. “What we’ve heard from our consultants is that there would be a benefit for infants from infant circumcision, and that the benefits outweigh the risks.”

An official draft of the proposed recommendations by the CDC is due out by the end of the year. In the meantime, the CDC is hosting its National HIV Prevention Conference in Atlanta this week.

JPMorgan Chase & ACORN

For the past 20 or so years we have banked at WAMU. They held the mortgage on our home and serviced our checking and savings accounts. I'm not a big fan of banks in general, but WAMU always did a good job in an atmosphere of friendliness. We were always called by name, the tellers were bright and cheerful, and the management bent over backwards to serve it's customers.

Now we bank at Chase, not because we chose to, but because it bought out WAMU. As I've reported before, the first thing our little branch in Post Falls, ID did after becoming Chase was to gut the interior and completely remodel. I suggested to the bank manager, who is one of the only faces I recognize since the takeover, perhaps that wasn't a good use of "our" money since the old decor was quite lovely. He explained, with what to me appeared to be some embarrassment, that Chase wanted all it's branches to "look alike", as if that would somehow make the bank function better.

The new decor is ugly and cold, the familiar faces are gone, replaced by young girls with attitudes who are clearly incompetent, and no one knows our name anymore. Now I find out that Chase is a big supporter of ACORN, an organization determined to destroy, or as Obama and his wife always say, "fundamentally transform" America.

This week we will be interviewing local banks and moving our accounts, and possibly refinancing our home. Does Chase care? I doubt it, since we're just small potato folks. But if enough small potato folks start making some of their decisions based on their belief systems, we could possibly see a difference in the way some businesses run. As Glenn Beck is always saying, "you must know who you are and what you believe in."

Sad to say, but in the past even the USCCB (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops), a group that holds no real authority and IMHO should be disbanded, has donated to ACORN. When this was brought to light, many people refused to donate to their local diocesan annual drives (as did we), and ACORN was taken off their charity list.

Awards and Accolades

Well, fiiiiiinaly!

About a gazillion years ago, Joe of St. Therese awarded me the anti-muffin award. The anti- muffin award is given to those blogs operated by insane people who aren't afraid to speak their minds...
(I added the insane part, but it fits and it's my blog - so there!)

We're all waiting with baited breath (whatever the he** that means - sounds fishy to me) for Joe to make a big announcement. I however, would not be surprised if there might not be a new priest in the Church in about however many years it takes to make a priest. Just sayn"....

Other famous people that received this award are:
  • LarryD at Acts of Apostasy (one on the funniest people, evah!),
  • Lola (a lady who never fails to raise my spirits and make me feel very, very important - which is important, doncha know),
  • Karen over at Gem of the Ocean ( Karen is a true gem who has perfected the art of the well turned phrase - which is a nice way of saying, I love her rants),
  • Cavey over at The Lair of the Catholic Caveman (another person who takes no prisoners),
  • Adoro (she has her days when I wouldn't want to cross her),
  • Subvet over at Blowing San #1, (husband to the mighty Mighty Mom)
  • Angela (who taught me everything I know about whining to get my way.)

Not to be outdone

Sarah who just moved to Hawaii (lucky girl), sent me an anti-muffin award, too.

She also has been waiting patiently for my address (it's on the way, Sarah), annnnd..........gave me a meme to do:

The Seven Things About Moi That Make Moi Awe-Summm:

  1. I'm try to be a good friend (unless you cross me and then you're dead meat)
  2. I'm short (short girls can date tall boys and the short boys)
  3. I'm a good teacher (if I don't know the subject real well, I'm capable of making it up as I go along)
  4. I'm generous
  5. I treat my husband like a king (at least as far as I'm concerned and his opinion doesn't count)
  6. I have ADD (adults with ADD are sooooooooo fun! We drive the rest of the world crazy, doncha know!)
  7. I speak the truth (not the "truth as I see it", but the truly true truth!)
I think I'm supposed to give this to a bunch of people but instead I think my readers should appoint themselves recipients and link back to their "awesome post"

Moving right along with more accolades and awards, Ebeth, over at Catholic Mom Climbing the Pillars, awarded me the Loyal Friend and Visitor Award and said some really nice things about me, which makes her one smart cookie!

I'm not only a loyal visitor of Ebeth's (she shares my outrage on most things political), but I'm also a loyal visitor of her Avon on-line store. I love many of their products and I really love having a my cute UPS guy in his summer shorts deliver my beauty products. Gives new meaning to their advertising slogan, "what can Brown do for you."

Thanks, Ebeth. You Rock!!

Feeling Overwhelmed?

If you're not feeling overwhelmed with all that is going on, that makes you a much better person than moi.

Good Lord, we have Lutherans celebrating and condoning the homosexual lifestyle, Obama ranting on and on and on, about his "health care reform", the Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi, who killed 169 Americans being cheered, and a couple extra trillion added to the projected deficit.

It's enough to make an alcoholic like myself head for the gin bottle. But........... not to worry. After nineteen years of sobriety, I think I'll drown my anxiety in an O'Douls while I remind myself that God is in charge.

Keep in mind, this is all part of the plan. Overwhelm, confuse, insult, and ridicule is the way this administration gets what it wants. And what it wants is control; control of you and your life.

The next wave will be the pushing the concept of health care co-ops instead of the so-called public option. Well guess what? A government controlled co-op is the same as a public option so don't be fooled...

Do you think we can talk Obama into extending his vacation for another three and a half years? It would probably be cheaper than having him wreaking havoc on the country.

Insanity

"You really can't do health reform" without allowing the government to compete with private insurers, said Howard Dean, a former Democratic Party chairman. "Let's not say we're doing health reform without a public option," he added in a slap at the administration's latest move.

His remarks were echoed by lawmakers as well as AFL-CIO President John Sweeney, who said the option was the only way to force "real competition" on the insurance industry. source

How can these people continue to make such patently false and utterly ridiculous statements? Let's vet what these two lunatics said.

We'll use moi as an example. I have a daylily nursery. I grow the daylilies, add to my selection yearly, and work the fields. When an order is placed I must dig, clean, trim, pack, and mail the plants. I'm required to pay taxes on the profit.

Suppose the government decided there wasn't enough competition in the daylily business. In an effort to level the playing field, they plow up the east lawn of the White House, and using my tax dollars, buy a bunch of different daylilies. They hire 5 people, put them on the government payroll, and send them out to plant and tend the crop. When an order comes in, they send a different crew out because the union doesn't allow the tenders to dig and pack the plants. After paying the government workers their union wages, there is no profit so they don't owe any taxes.

They charge less, but their daylilies are not near as nice as mine, and they tend to run out before the end of season, necessitating long waits for people anxious to get on with their landscaping. At the same time, they put 42 government regulations in place that monitor which plants I can grow, how much I can charge, and 40 other pesky little paperwork time killers. Of course, you can't run a business like that forever without going bankrupt. But, not to worry! When they completely run out of money, a quick trip to the printing presses solves that problem.

Is this competition??

Health Care Bill Should be in the Trash!

I couldn't possibly add much to what every thinking American has already said. This is not a time to let down your guard.

First of all, we know our President is a prevaricator, which is a nice way of saying he never met a lie he didn't like. Second, he wants what he wants and it doesn't matter how he gets it. Before you get all excited about the possibility of them dropping the public option, contact your representatives and tell them to dump this whole piece of carp bill in the nearest file 13 where it belongs.

Any form of government controlled health care will result in a fundamental change in the relationship between citizen and government. And a government run co-op is just another form of public option.

The government will no longer work for us (which they are not exactly doing a bang up job of now), but will instead hold the power of life and death over its citizens. If you think you fear the IRS, just wait and see how it feels to have some government bureaucrat decide when and how you will live or die.

Stacy McCain has live photo's being sent to him from the Phoenix protest by way of his new BFF, Barbara Espinosa. Stacy won't be my BFF because I keep trying to steal Smitty from him. If Stacy would just throw a few well placed commas my way, I would probably stop trying to lure Smitty with high pay and homemade tacos.

Thinking about buying a Smart Car? You may want to think again after seeing these photos over at The Blog Prof. I questioned its safety when pitted against a semi or large pickup. Looks like I asked the right question.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for. That my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

New World Order & Health Care

How to Fix Health Care

  1. End employer mandated insurance. The individual should be the owner of his own coverage. It is ridiculous for employers to be overseeing your health care.
  2. Remove government mandates from current policies which drive up costs.
  3. Remove government restrictions on the sale of insurance to allow for true competition.
  4. Insurance should return to the original concept of insuring against catastrophe, with patients paying out of pocket for everyday medical expenses.
  5. Tort reform
  6. Allow Medicare and Medicaid to be phased out over time.
America - there is no health care crisis. This "crisis" is nonsense, invented by the very government that has caused the problem to begin with. The solution to "fixing" what is currently a problem is to get government out of health care. No more micromanaging our lives.

Does no one else see how just plain weird this is all is? We have a bunch of ignorant, overpaid elitist snobs running around in Washington arguing about how you will receive your health care. By my estimates, we have close to 50% of the people in this country thinking this is "normal." This is not normal; this is more like crawling down Alice's hole and dancing with the gerbils.

Why?

I've also become tired of not saying some of the things that need to be said. Just openly say anything about a "plan" or a "plot", or throw God into the mix, and you are automatically called a "conspiracy wacko". Even the conservatives jump on this little band wagon. Glenn Beck is routinely disparaged by both sides of the aisle, and we all know how relentlessly Sarah Palin is attacked in an attempt to marginalize her message.

Folks, this is all about control, and the question I've had to ask myself over the past few weeks is; why? Why would you want to destroy a country's economy just so you can feel powerful? Wouldn't a rational person rather be head of a prosperous country? Therein lies the key. We are not dealing with rational people. We are dealing with evil, sick people, and it's time we all realized this.

The reason we, referring to those of us who are rational, cannot wrap ourselves around any of this is because we are rational. Spend some time connecting the dots. Read up on the UN's Agenda 21, Alinsky's Rules for Radicals, and the Cloward-Piven Strategy.

At the dinner table the other evening, my husband compared these people to shopaholics. No matter how much a person shops, and regardless of how much "stuff" they pile up in their homes, they are never satisfied. They have a bottomless pit in their soul that can never be filled. We are dealing with people who are nothing more than Godless empty pails riddled with holes. As fast as they pour other people's money and lifeblood in, it leaks out the bottom.

These people are the modern day Gnostic's, believing they have secret knowledge and can become as Gods. And many everyday folk are being dragged along this path by the "feel good" message being fed to them by their churches, including the Catholic Church. Dumbed down theology, watered down liturgy, liberation theology, diversity, and tolerance being preached relentlessly from pulpits of all denominations has turned the modern day Christian into a weak and vapid sycophant, demanding their "rights."

As Sun Tzu said in The Art of War, "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the results of a hundred battles. " Glenn Beck has been saying for weeks now that we need to know who we are and what we believe if we are to win this battle. I couldn't agree more.

Manufactured Healthcare Crisis

By
James Simpson

These are perilous times. Last November's election of Barack Obama and a veto-proof majority of Democrats in both houses allowed a virulent cabal to capture our nation's seat of power. As with the Democrat takeover of Congress in 2006, it was a disaster of epic proportions. With one shocking, enormous, blatantly partisan, self-serving and destructive proposal following on the heels of another, the sheer enormity of their power grab defies description. But as each new proposal moves forward, the hand of the Crisis Strategy becomes clear. read the rest

Pro Life vs Pro Death

From LifeNews.com:

Pro-Life College Students Meet in Washington After Nationwide Walk on Abortion

[...]

Three female walkers were stopped immediately before entering the park by a male ranger who said they would not be permitted to continue unless they changed out of their pro-life t- shirts. The shirts are solid colors with the words "Pro- Life" emblazoned on the front.

Nolan (James Nolan, president and chief counsel of Crossroads Pro-Life) said the ranger said pro-abortion people in the park might find the shirts offensive.

After getting legal help, the walkers were eventually allowed to continue.

What these young people discovered is how pro-life this country really is. Remember pro-choice means pro-abortion. You can't declare "I personally think abortion is wrong but I support a woman's right to choose." That is insanity.

Kudo's to Homeschooling

From World Net Daily

Study: Homeschoolers score 37 points higher
Costs also average $500, compared to $10,000 at public school

This does not surprise me one teeny tiny bit. My husband teaches guitar, banjo, and mandolin to mostly adult students, but he still gets his fair share of young people. When comparing the home schooled kids to the public school kids he teaches, the differences are remarkable.

In almost all (there are exceptions) instances, the home schooled kids are better educated, better students, and much better at their interpersonal skills. They are able to carry on an intelligent conversation with an adult, probably due to the fact they are not glued to a cell phone texting someone.

The Myth of Teacher Qualifications
by Chris Klicka
Senior Counsel for Home School Legal Defense Association
(pdf - but a very well behaved pdf!)

I taught 4th grade for several years at a private boys academy, where teacher certification was not a requirement. Almost none of the teachers were certified, including myself.

By the end of the school year, the boys in my classroom were able to diagram sentences at the level of a 6th grader (do they even teach sentence diagramming in public schools anymore??), were able to give answers on written tests in essay form, read at the level of an 8th grader (I had to search the book storage room for readers that were compatible with their skills), and had mastered pure phonics. They had beautiful cursive penmanship, and fully half of them were altar servers in the traditional form of the Mass, necessitating the memorization of complicated Latin prayers.

Every Friday afternoon, the last period of the day was devoted to classroom cleaning involving washing the desks, vacuuming the room, washing the black board, and cleaning and organizing their desks. I have long wondered why public school kids are not required to keep their own classrooms neat and clean.

They brought their lunches, and different boys were appointed to lunch room clean up on a rotating schedule. They washed the table and swept the floor. They didn't have much to do because the teachers made sure their classes cleaned up after themselves.

Lunch time was a time to sit and converse with our students and gently teach manners. Just so you don't think we were some sort of adult ogres, we were still treated to orange peel smiles or Cheetos "fangs" and found them quite amusing.

At our local Catholic school, where they do a fairly decent job, the kids are served a complete hot meal and trash the lunch room, necessitating an adult to clean up after them. Even with parent volunteers, the cost of staff to run the kitchen plus cleaning up the lunch room, adds considerably to the tuition and reinforces the modern concept that the world revolves around "the children."

Our local public high school has acres of rolling grass that requires lots of water spewed out of automatic sprinklers and a complete staff of grounds people to cut and fertilize. Does all that grass make the kids any smarter? They have a state of the art gym, wrestling room, and weight room, but the majority of the kids are what could only be called functionally illiterate - incapable of even writing a complete sentence.

Are these kids stupid? Of course not. I'm sure they can tell you how to properly apply a condom or save a tree. They are just trapped in an educational system that has evolved into some sort of glorified babysitting service/country club tended to by unionized teachers who are "certified."

Our government-run schools have become nothing more than places to indoctrinate children with the Socialistic attitudes the Left are so fond of. Anyone who can possibly keep their kids at home really should consider doing so. The parents who homeschool should be rewarded with vouchers or a tax break, not punished and demonized.

Phyllis Schlafly on Obama

I like Phyllis!

Phyllis Schlafly is the founder of Eagle Forum. I remember many years ago when she was routinely ridiculed as a uneducated "stay at home Mom type". Read her bio and see is that accusation makes sense.

“But everything Obama is promoting on the health care industry is bad, is government control, which is what he wants.” “You know he never had a real job before he got in politics.”

“He was a community organizer -- and this is a process of making people believe that they live in an unjust and discriminatory society and they should organize to protest and demand to take money away from the taxpayers.”

“Anybody who thinks that health care is going to cost less if the government runs it must believe in the tooth fairy.” “It isn’t going to happen and the idea of letting the government run all of our healthcare industry is simply unacceptable.” Phyllis Schlafly source
