****I know most of you sensible folks did not watch that strange and very creepy infomercial complements of Obama and his millions. But I am blessed(?) with a "need to know". In this case the "need to know" related to my enemy.

****According to top producers of infomercials it was a disaster and the ratings were abysmal. Only a diehard non-thinking, "operating on feelings only" person could have reacted with anything except disgust.

Three Days of Fast and Prayer

Don't forget the three days of fast and prayer. Since I always want to make sure everything is done correctly, I emailed IR to clarify the days involved. I tend to worry about things no rational person would even give a nanoseconds thought about.

Here's what he said: "I'm asking people to fast and pray for three days--If they do so on Sat, Sun and Tuesday, or Sat, Sun and Monday, or in other patterns, I'm not too concerned. As long as we Fast and Pray! If you want to update this, perhaps you can mention the days you are choosing or suggesting."

My husband and I have chosen Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday so we will be doing extra prayers and fasting on election day. As IR said, chose any days you want - just DO IT!


The Announcement

I have officially lost my mind (it was only a suspicion before), and become a WriMo. Tomorrow is the first day of National Novel Writing Month.

What is NaNoWriMo?

****National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

****Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that's a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down.

So where am I in this endeavor? Trying to finish No Plot, No Problem, by the founder of NoNoWriMo, Chris Baty. I had it rush shipped and received it just a few days ago.

First, like all good ADD adults with slight overtones of OCD, I had to complete my shopping, do a marathon cooking session, clean the house (hubby changed the sheets today - bless his little heart), read my blogs, pay the bills, and on and on.

Do I have a plot? Heck no! What fun would that be?

Now I shall go finish reading my book.

Hanged Obama effigy found at Ky. school

LEXINGTON, Ky., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- University of Kentucky officials said an effigy of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama was found hanging from a tree on campus Wednesday.

...Lee Todd, the university president, said it is not yet known whether a student was responsible for the effigy and the incident is being investigated by the University Police Department and the Lexington Police Department. He said the Secret Service has been notified.
"It's a very embarrassing situation that has happened on our campus, regardless of who did it," Todd said.
He described hanging the effigy as a "despicable act."
"We certainly believe in political expression, just not in this form," he said.

Latest radio reports have said this will be investigated as a "hate crime" and the FBI has also been called in.

Halloween Palin Prop Sparks Controversy In West Hollywood, Calif.

(AP) ― A Halloween decoration showing a mannequin dressed as vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin hanging by a noose from the roof of a West Hollywood home is drawing giggles from some passers-by and gasps of outrage from others. The mannequin is dressed in brunet wig, glasses and a red business suit. Another mannequin dressed as John McCain emerges from a flaming chimney. Chad Michael Morisette, who lives in the house, told CBS 2 News that drivers and bus passengers have been stopping to snap pictures of the macabre scene. Morisette says the effigy would be out of bounds at any other time of year, but it's within the spirit of Halloween. He says "it should be seen as art, and as within the month of October. It's Halloween, it's time to be scary it's time to be spooky."

****Among the most important titles we have in the Catholic Church for the Blessed Virgin Mary are Our Lady of Victory and Our Lady of the Rosary. These titles can be traced back to one of the most decisive times in the history of the world and Christendom. The Battle of Lepanto took place on October 7 (date of feast of Our Lady of Rosary), 1571. This proved to be the most crucial battle for the Christian forces against the radical Muslim navy of Turkey. Pope Pius V led a procession around St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City praying the Rosary. He showed true pastoral leadership in recognizing the danger posed to Christendom by the radical Muslim forces, and in using the means necessary to defeat it. Spiritual battles require spiritual weapons, and this more than anything was a battle that had its origins in the spiritual order—a true battle between good and evil.

****Today we have a similar spiritual battle in progress—a battle between the forces of good and evil, light and darkness, truth and lies, life and death. If we do not soon stop the genocide of abortion in the United States, we shall run the course of all those that prove by their actions that they are enemies of God—total collapse, economic, social, and national. The moral demise of a nation results in the ultimate demise of a nation. God is not a disinterested spectator to the affairs of man. Life begins at conception. What to do When the Liturgy Committee goes for the Throat

at "New Liturgical Movement", which is one of the best sites on the Liturgy you'll ever find. If you wish to have a fuller understanding of the liturgy of the Catholic Church, a visit to this site is a must.

***"It happens often that when a musician upgrades his or her knowledge and competence in music, the liturgy committee will suddenly emerge to "express its concerns" about the growing "conservatism" or "traditionalism" of parish music, and call for more peppy hymns. They might even commission a parish poll on what people want. This sort of thing makes musicians crazy because it is a setting guaranteed to yield shabby liturgy and community chaos. It is the worst possible thing to happen to a parish music program, and not because the community shouldn't have a voice."

*** "If the community has a point of unity, it concerns the faith itself and the tradition; otherwise, in terms of issues of taste and preference, there is no such thing as a community: there are only individuals with a multiplicity of conflicting desires. A method of liturgical planning that exalts the "desires of the community" over the demands of the universal Church yields a very divided parish, with egos clashing against other egos, and to heck with what the liturgy is calling for.

***"It would be the same if we chose the texts or the vestments of the Mass with this method. Nothing good can come of it. I would suggest that the musician in question quickly get a copy of The Gregorian Missal, which has all the Sunday propers and the ordinary for Mass in Gregorian notation with English translations. No book better illustrates the point that the music of the Mass is part of the structure of the Mass, not something that is chosen by a committee or by democratic methods. Let everyone pass this book around, so that they can see for themselves what the music of the Roman Rite is in fact. This is the core repertoire, what the Church is asking us to sing and has asked us to sing since the earliest years of the Church. Gregorian chant was exalted at the Second Vatican Council as the music of the Roman Rite because it is holy, beautiful, and universal. "

***"The musician can explain that this is the liturgical ideal and that everything else that we sing or do is, in fact, a substitute for this ideal.Once that is understood, everything changes. People begin to see that it is not about the community's needs or the musician's training or preferences. It is about the universal faith. The standards are different. Now, you can't do all propers and ordinary in your Mass; it is not practical in most cases (though there are plenty of parishes that have achieved this). This race is closer than you may imagine and if we sink into despair we will lose our effectiveness. Credible polling sources have the candidates just one or two points apart.

Manifest Obama?

Once again I am having to credit Mark in Spokane, who by the way, is no longer Libertas et Memoria, but goes by the new and improved name of "A Catholic in Spokane", with bringing to us one of the creepiest things I have seen lately. It came to him by way of EyeBlastTV.

I have a special interest in the New Age influences on our world and in our churches. I do an hour and a half presentation tracing the history of this very disturbing trend, and this video is about as New Age goofy as you can get. Goofy but dangerous. Note all the "code" words i.e. Envision, Manifest, and statements like "make it a reality".

The background music is a song entitled "Sanctuary" by Randy Scruggs. It could, to be polite, be best termed a nursery rhyme with hypnotic and repetitious overtones. Unfortunately, our 10:30 Mass was introduced to this piece of nonsense when our new music director showed up. Now everyone sings this while they go to communion. Needless to say I never, ever go to the 10:30 Mass.

The people behind this video and the website promoting it, "Manifest Obama", dispense their New Age influences through their other website called Wisdomology.

This should make you sit back and take a deep breath and run for your rosary.

So Biden is essentially saying, "Obama is really going to mess up but you just hang out long enough and he'll mop it all up. Whatever "it" is. Doesn't sound real good to me.

For breakfast this morning we will eat our last tomato of the season. It will be sliced and placed between two slices of 100% whole wheat bread on a bed of lettuce, topped with thick sliced bacon, and topped with slices of Provolone cheese. God is good!

I'd know that bark anywhere. After dinner the "guys", who are really girls, went outside. Within minutes I heard my smallest little girl raising an awful ruckus.

Oh oh, says I. Sounds like stray cat or skunk.

Arming myself with my huge industrial size flashlight I head out and, lo and behold, Elle has a skunk cornered in the yard. A BIG skunk. I never saw it's face as the "business end" was pointed at my dear little girl.

With a mother's courage I swooped in and grabbed my crazed doggie by her halter only a few feet from the possibility of a dousing with eau de skunk. As I raced back to the door sniffing her for the possibility of a direct hit, I was instead greeted with the sweet smell of my little girl.
